These terms cover your use of fishthemechanic.com and any mobile repair service you book with Fish the Mechanic ("we", "us"), an owner-operated mobile mechanic serving North Austin, Texas and roughly 25 miles out. By using the site or booking service, you agree to these terms.
Service area
We work North Austin and the surrounding towns listed on our locations page. We may decline requests outside that area or outside the types of work we do.
Requests and scheduling
Submitting the booking form, calling, texting or messaging us is a request, not a confirmed appointment. Requests are handled first come, first served, and an appointment is confirmed only when we confirm a time with you directly. Automated replies to messages are not confirmations.
Quotes and approval
We quote the work before we start. If we find something during the job that changes the work or the price, we stop and ask before doing anything extra. We do not perform work you have not approved.
Prices discussed before we see the vehicle, including anything on this site, by text or through automated messages, are estimates based on the information you gave us. The price you approve on site is the one that applies.
Diagnostics and jobs we refer out
Some problems turn out to need shop equipment or work we do not do, such as wiring harness repair, failed control modules, press-in wheel bearings, or anything requiring the cylinder head to come off. If testing points there, we tell you, charge the diagnostic fee only, and point you to a shop that handles that work.
Parts and warranty
Parts we install carry the warranty from the parts supplier, and the length of that warranty depends on the part. We will tell you what applies to your parts when we quote. Warranty coverage does not extend to damage caused by accidents, misuse, lack of maintenance, or other parts of the vehicle that were not part of our repair.
Your responsibilities
- Give us an accurate description of the vehicle and the problem.
- Make sure the vehicle is somewhere we are allowed to work, such as your own driveway, or a lot or street where repairs are permitted. You are responsible for any property, HOA or apartment rules about vehicle repair.
- Provide the keys and access to the vehicle at the agreed time.
- Remove valuables from the vehicle before we arrive.
We may decline or stop work if the location is unsafe, the vehicle cannot be worked on safely where it is parked, or the job turns out to be different from what was described.
Payment
Payment is due when the work is complete, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. The diagnostic fee is due when diagnostics are performed, whether or not you go ahead with a repair.
Website content
The articles and guides on this site are general information to help you understand common problems. They are not a diagnosis of your vehicle. Do not rely on them in place of an inspection.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, such as lost time, lost income, towing, rental cars or alternate transportation. Our total liability for any service is limited to the amount you paid us for that service. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under Texas law that cannot be waived.
Privacy
How we handle your information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas.
Changes
We may update these terms. The version posted on this page, with its effective date, is the one that applies.
